About Jin

Jin creates safe and supportive spaces for people to heal through breath, movement, voice, and sound.

Jin’s orientation towards creative self-expression and healing through yoga stems from their background as a professional performer, performing arts educator, and person in recovery from mental illness and addiction.

Jin discovered yoga in 2008, at a time when they were struggling with mental health. At J. Brown’s yoga studio in Brooklyn, New York, Jin discovered a gentle, stable practice that regulates the nervous system. (Over a decade later, Jin would go on to receive their 300-hour training with J Brown.)

With this mindful yoga practice as their touchstone, Jin pursued and obtained their MFA in Acting from the Moscow Art Theater School Institute at Harvard University. They went on to spend 12 years as a somatic educator and professional actor (Star Trek, Dragon Age, etc.) They taught hundreds of actors mind/body/voice techniques to maximize confidence and honest self-expression.

It wasn’t until Jin got into recovery for addiction in 2012 that yoga took on a deeper and more meaningful role in their life. In addition to Gentle Vinyasa, Jin started practicing other styles, including Power and Bikram Yoga and vital activated breathwork at Yoga Farm Ithaca, a trauma-conscious yoga school.

Jin loves getting to know people, meeting them where they are, and helping people meet their goals with personalized yogic techniques. They believe yoga is much more than a physical and mental practice. It is a comprehensive way of life that promotes lasting recovery, health, and purposeful living.
